In my view, a human is a nervous system encapsulated by a body. For this reason the mind-body connection is where my treatment approach starts and ends. Pain and discomfort is primarily an unpleasant experience (mind), likely due to biological discrepancy (body). I see myself not as a healer. The body heals itself. I help to facilitate the process.
For this reason, my approach is firstly focused on the unique patient experience of their condition, within the bigger context of his/her current situation, and then on the symptoms posed by the disease. For example, a professional rugby player's experience of a debilitating ankle sprain will be vastly different to that of an elderly gentleman who cannot take his morning walk. From here, I empower the patient to become an active part of the managent of their condition, rather than a victim thereof. Any pain or limitation is treated with the patient's experience in mind, and with the focus on enhancing quality of life and function.
This practice hasn't received any recommendations yet.
