Dr Felicity Schoombie qualified as a medical doctor in 1980 and works as a private general practitioner since 2000 applying a holistic approach to patient treatment and care.  She has a special interest in treating adults and children who suffer from overweight, obesity, Metabolic Syndrome and other chronic illnesses, including Diabetes mellitus, Hypertension, Depression and Anxiety.  Her main focus is on obtaining and maintaining health by means of lifestyle intervention and change.

Personalized attention, follow-up, monitoring and support are the keys to patients acquiring successful lifestyle changes.

Dr Felicity Schoombie qualified as a Pastoral counsellor in 1999 and has incorporated these skills in her medical practice since 2000.  She obtained her medical degree (M.B.ChB) in 1980 from the University of Stellenbosch and M.Th Pastoral Therapy (Cum Laude) from UNISA in 1999.

Human relationships have the power of either promoting health or inflicting physical illness on the people involved. Her main interest is helping clients deal with challenging interpersonal and working relationships and helping them to restructure their identity in such a way as to ensure better coping life skills and functioning.

Dr Schoombie’s empathetic, method-in-the-chaos approach, aids clients in taking an honest look at the issues concerned and in finding the solution to their challenges within themselves.

She assists clients in one to one counselling sessions conducted in a safe and confidential environment and also works in small groups in a workshop setting.

A healthy life is more than being disease free – it implies living one’s full potential too.
