  • About Dita

As a Counselling Psychologist working individually with children, adolescents and adults in Camps Bay, South Africa, I offer confidential psychological counselling / psychotherapy for a wide variety of emotional and behavioural difficulties.

My aim is to offer you a safe place to explore your difficulties and help you to re-discover your natural potential and ability to resolve any problems that you may be facing and regain trust in yourself and your relationships. We can work together to understand better where your struggles originate and how they come to remain in existence. Together we can examine long-standing behaviour patterns and beliefs that may be holding you back from experiencing life that is more meaningful and fulfilling.

In general, I work with children, adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties in the following areas: self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, adjustment to new life situations including divorce and separation, relocation and immigration/emigration, illness, trauma, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, stress,  and more.

My work with children pertains more specifically to issues surrounding power and control, poor self-concept, insufficient social skills, illness or death of a loved one, parental conflict, separation and divorce, trauma including physical, emotional and sexual abuse, worries, fears and excessive sadness, adjustment difficulties, behavioural regression, temper tantrums and aggressive behaviour (hurting others or self), non-medical problems with bowel and bladder control, pre-occupation with sexual behaviour, physical symptoms such as headaches and stomachaches that have no medical cause, sudden drops in school performance that cannot be explained by lack of skills and abilities, and more.

I further offer parental advice, couples counselling, career guidance to high school learners as well as adults that wish to change their career, emotional and educational assessments, and neuropsychological assessments to adults and children of the Atlantic Seaboard and the Cape Town city bowl.

Dita has helped me manage my anxiety tremendously. She has a kind, caring and professional manner in which she handles each session. She is very easy to open up to.

My son was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. This caused aggressive outbursts and problems at school. He was a patient with Dita for over 2 years up until we relocated. During this time she assisted him in building up his self esteem (He was overweight due to the medication) and helping him deal with and channel the aggressive outbursts in a controlled way. I would recommend her therapy, as I found that she had the ability to relate to my son, identify the issues and assist him in dealing with them.

I used Dita, both in my private capacity and with one of my senior business managers, and found her to be an exceptional and very perceptive psychologist. It was very easy to relax and open up in her company, and yet she still retained absolute professionalism and thoroughness in her assessments and assistance.
